About our cause
Who we are?
Wembley Cricket Club is a not-for-profit organisation primarily run and managed by volunteers. The 1st XI play in the Middlesex County League, up to 5 adult teams play every Saturday and in excess of 200 matches are organised each year for young cricketers age 11 to 19 including a successful and ever growing girls and ladies section.
If you're a young and aspiring talent, Wembley offers Middlesex League cricket and a chance for your skills to flourish. On the other hand, if you just want the chance to see how far your brand of cricket can take you, we have five Saturday elevens, two on Sunday and a midweek team to suit all abilities. We also have a women's team.
A great social atmosphere is all part of the deal (and at great bar prices too!). We also have a thriving Junior section for boys and girls age 6 to 17.
All standards are catered for. Cricket coaching sessions are also available.
Community impact
Wembley CC takes its place in the community seriously and we do what we can to encourage people to take up the game of cricket for fitness, mental wellbeing and just being part of the Wembley family.
Our aim is to introduce the children to a love of cricket and see them develop and progress in the game. We have ECB trained Level 1 Coaches who take the juniors from complete novices to senior cricket using training sessions with a mixture of fun play and serious education.
There is anecdotal evidence that cricket is a great way of getting them to take part in exercise and become part of a club environment. The last few years have emphasised the importance of ensuring children have access to local sports teams and facilities in their local community to improve their physical and mental health and well being. Such opportunities allow them to develop skills in teamwork, self confidence and sportsmanship.
Why are we funding?
Our practise nets have been in place for over 20 years and are in dire need of replacement. Over the years members have patched them up and replaced netting but they have now become unfit for purpose and putting players off due to the uneven bounce off the concrete base.
The current nets are also open-ended facing the car park and pathway meaning that we have to be very careful who is using them. Installing an enclosed state-of-the-art facility will make things safer for spectators, local residents and people training and it will allow us to open the facility out to more people making better use of the space.
We are looking to raise a sum of £50,000 towards the cost of the nets.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We have plans in place to build a four lane fully enclosed net facility. We will use the existing nets area and will dig out the current base and replace it with a state-of-the-art facility that will serve current and future members for many years to come.
All funds will be used to improve the facilities that the club is able to offer it's members and the local community.
Wembley Cricket Club provides a much loved and valued service for the community.
We need your help so we can continue to offer and even expand our service!
Thank you for your support and good luck!
Yours sincerely,
Wembley CC
